Program Update: Coaching Transition and Next Steps

The Club Football program at George Mason University would like to share an important update regarding the program’s leadership as preparations begin for the upcoming off-season.

Following the conclusion of the 2025 season and a period of internal review, the program has made the decision to move forward with a coaching transition. We would like to thank Coach O for his time, dedication, and service to Club Football at George Mason University. His contributions to the program and to the student-athletes involved are appreciated, and we wish him success in his future endeavors.

As the program moves forward, Kareem McDonald has been appointed to serve as Interim Head Coach. This appointment provides short-term continuity as the program prepares to begin a formal search for its next head football coach.

Coaching Search and Program Continuity

The program will begin a structured search process next week for the head football coaching position. Details regarding the position and application timeline will be communicated through the program’s official website and social media channels.

During this transition, all football operations will continue as planned. Offseason activities, recruiting efforts, and administrative planning will move forward with appropriate oversight to ensure stability and consistency.

Looking Ahead

The program is confident in the direction it is headed and excited about the opportunities ahead. Transitions are a natural part of organizational growth, and this moment represents an opportunity to continue strengthening the foundation of Club Football at George Mason University.

The program remains committed to providing a positive, organized, and competitive environment that supports student-athletes both on and off the field, while upholding the values of George Mason University. We appreciate the continued support of our players, families, alumni, and campus partners and look forward to sharing additional updates as the search process progresses.
