Patriots Shut Out No. 5 Clarkson, 41–0
The George Mason Club Football team traveled to Towanda, Pennsylvania, on Sunday, October 26, for a last-minute matchup against fifth-ranked Clarkson University. The Patriots were initially scheduled to play the University of South Carolina, which was forced to forfeit earlier in the week. Despite the change in plans, George Mason quickly secured a replacement game at a neutral site and made the most of the opportunity.
George Mason’s defense continued its dominant stretch of play, posting its second consecutive shutout and limiting Clarkson to minimal yardage throughout the game. The Patriots have now outscored their opponents 91–0 over the past two weeks.
Defensive back Nick McCray was named the team’s Defensive Player of the Week after recording four tackles, three pass deflections, and three interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown. On offense, running back Frederick Stokes earned Offensive Player of the Week honors with 14 carries for 105 yards and one touchdown as Mason’s rushing attack controlled the pace from start to finish.
The Patriots improved to 4–1 on the season and will return to action on Saturday, November 1, when they host Columbus State University. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. on RAC FIELD on the Fairfax campus of George Mason University. Admission is free.
